Another Honor for Belanger

April 27, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Adirondack Frostbite News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Frostbite, in conjunction with the United Hockey League, announced today that Frostbite captain Hugo Belanger has been awarded the 2005-2006 UHL Most Sportsmanlike Player Award in a vote of the league's general managers, coaches, broadcasters, and media members.

This is the third consecutive season Belanger has received the Most Sportsmanlike Player award. In 71 games this season, Belanger notched just 14 penalty minutes, marking the fourth straight season that he has accumulated fewer than 20 penalty minutes. Only twice in his professional career has Belanger exceeded 30 penalty minutes for a season (1995-96 and 2000-01).

Earlier this week, Belanger was named to the United Hockey League's Second-Team All-Star team, the sixth straight season he has been honored on the league's post-season all-star squad.

The Frostbite host the Muskegon Fury in game four of their first-round, best-of-seven Colonial Cup Playoff series on Friday night at the Glens Falls Civic Center, with game five slated for Saturday. Both games start at 7:35 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Glens Falls Civic Center Box Office, or by calling (518) 798-0202.
