Adirondack's Hugo Belanger earns UHL's Most Sportsmanlike Player honors

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Thursday that Adirondack Frostbite left wing Hugo Belanger has been named the 2005-06 UHL Most Sportsmanlike Player as selected by league head coaches, general managers, and members of the media.

The 35-year-old native of St. Hubert, Quebec ranked fourth in UHL scoring with 98 points (31g, 67a). His 67 assist ranked fourth in the league. In 71 games played for the Frostbite, he compiled a plus-19 rating and was assessed just 14 minutes in penalties. He set a league season high when he tallied seven points (2g, 5a) in a game on December 23rd and tied a league high with five assists in the contest.

Belanger was selected to play in the 2006 UHL All-Star Classic in January. He was named a team captain and was voted to the starting lineup. He dished out two assists in the contest including an assist on the game-winning goal.

It is the third consecutive season that Belanger has earned Most Sportsmanlike Player honors.
