April 23, 2006 - International Hockey League 2 (IHL 2)
Motor City Mechanics News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI-With one minute and twenty seconds left in the first period the Kalamazoo Wings scored the game winning goal and held on for a 3-0 win tonight at Wings Stadium.
Dustin Virags goal would prove to be the game winner while Nick Bootland added the insurance with two of his own would be all the Wings would need.
The Mechanics had the opportunities but Wings goaltender Joel Martin stopped every Mechanic attempt as he made 26 saves to earn the shutout.
On the other end, Rod Branch looked stellar as he made 37 saves while in defeat.
The game was a little chippy as both teams combined for 148 penalty minutes. Both teams will get at it tomorrow as the series shifts to the Motor City for games 3 and 4.
Game 3 is Sunday at 5:00 PM and game 4 is Wednesday at 7:30 PM
