Johnstown 0-for-7 on Power Play, Checkers Score Four Third Period Goals to Win

Johnstown, Pa. - The Johnstown Chiefs lost to the Charlotte Checkers by a score of 5-1 tonight in front of a crowd of 3,098 at the Cambria County War Memorial.

The Chiefs opened the scoring at 6:54 of the second period when Brandon Elliott took a pass from Zbynek Hrdel and hammered it past Charlotte goaltender Chris Holt. Charlotte would even the score at one-apiece when Bruce Graham slammed home a centering pass from Mark Lee with the Checkers shorthanded.

From then on, it was all Charlotte, as the Checkers rattled off four unanswered goals in the third period. Dusty Jamieson scored his ninth goal of the season on a pass from Blake Bellefeuille at 5:58 with Charlotte on the power play, and Mark Lee scored his fourth of the season and first of the game at 12:49 with Graham and Ryan Constant picking up assists.

Bruce Graham scored his second goal of the game at 14:08 of the third period with Zbynek Hrdel off on a double minor for high-sticking, and Mark Lee iced the win with an empty-net goal at 17:58.
