Joey Ryan Assigned To Reading

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that defenseman Joey Ryan has been re-assigned by the Marlies to Reading. Also in a separate transaction previously completed, goaltender Josh Johnson, who had been loaned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League on Friday, March 12, 2010, has been traded to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL. In a separate decision issued by the ECHL today, Stefano Giliati has been suspended for one game. He will miss tonight's game against the Toledo Walleye at the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania.

For Ryan, a second year pro from Stoneham, Massachusetts, this marks the fourth time this season that he has been assigned to Reading. In twenty-eight games with the Royals, he has registered eight points (2g-6a) and thirty-nine penalty minutes. In seven games with the Marlies, Ryan has picked up four penalty minutes. Johnson, a third year pro from Esko, Minnesota, was acquired by the Royals on February 25, 2010 from the Bakersfield Condors for future considerations. In four games for Reading, he compiled a record of 2-2-0-0 with a 4.45 goals against average and a..878 save percentage. Overall in the ECHL this year, Johnson is 5-3-0-0-0 with a 3.77 goals against average and.877 save percentage. Under Rule #47.21, Giliati was assessed an aggressor penalty in the final five minutes of regulation at 19:23 of the third period. This penalty carries an automatic one-game suspension.

The Royals return to action tonight (Saturday, March 13, 2010 @ 7:05) when the Toledo Walleye travel to the Sovereign Center in Reading, Pennsylvania. That night the Royals will try to give away $1.0 million in the team's annual St. Hattrick's Day Celebration, and the first 2500 fans will receive a Royals' hat courtesy of Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products and Lasting Image. The Royals game night broadcast on the Royals Radio Network presented by Transmissions by Arbogast will begin at 6:35 pm.
