LOUISVILLE, Ky. - The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp struggled Friday in an 8-2 loss to the Louisville Bats from Louisville Slugger Field.

Louisville (21-21) took the lead promptly when Will Benson homered off Jacksonville (19-22) starter Chi Chi González (2-3) to lead off the bottom of the first.

In the second, Michael Siani singled with one out. After a fly out, Chuckie Robinson singled and Alejo Lopez walked to load the bases. A 3-2 pitch to Benson was initially called strike three, but a challenge changed the call to ball four, forcing in a run. Elly De La Cruz followed by clearing the bases with a triple to make it 5-0.

From there, the Bats padded their lead with home runs. Matt Reynolds homered in the third inning. Lopez went yard in the fourth and Reynolds socked his second shot of the game in the fifth to widen the gap to 8-0.

The score remained that way until the ninth. Brian Miller walked to start the frame. After a ground out, Cobie Fletcher-Vance drew a free pass. Two batters later, Jake Mangum's double plated two to make it 8-2 and help the Jumbo Shrimp avoid the shutout.
