Jackals Travel to Reading for Meeting with Royals

READING, PA - The Elmira Jackals, ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and the AHL's Rochester Americans, travel to Reading for a weekend set against the Royals. The Jackals have won six in a row and 12 of their last 14 games.

MAGNIFYING THE MATCHUP

The Jackals complete the pre-holiday week with two games at Santander Arena against the Reading Royals. Tonight and tomorrow's contests mark the sixth and seventh meetings of 12 overall this season and the fourth and fifth of six total in Reading. These two rivals last met in a home-and-home weekend on November 20-21 with the Jackals winning both games by identical 5-4 finals. In the first of the two, which was Elmira's last visit to Santander Arena, the Jackals received two goals from Justin Bernhardt and three helpers from Nathan Oystrick to push them past the Royals. Allan McPherson, Spiro Goulakos and Scott Jacklin also scored while Colin Jacobs and Chris Langkow each recorded two assists. C.J. Motte made 20 saves to earn the win. The next night in Elmira Cason Hohmann paved the way with two goals while Chris Langkow, Tyler Currier and Mark Bennett each found the back of the net as well. Niklas Lundstrom made 31 saves for the victory.

PLAYER MOVEMENT:

The Elmira Jackals announced today that the club has loaned defenseman Nick Petrecki to the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League. Petrecki has six assists and a plus-11 rating in 14 games with the Jackals this season.

Additionally, the Jackals have claimed forward Tyler Maxwell off waivers from the Alaska Aces and have suspended him from the team.

In other Jackals news, the team has released forward Nick Zappia. Zappia recorded five assists in nine games with the Jackals this season.
