Published on May 4, 2018 under Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
The Isotopes' four-game winning streak came to an end Thursday night as the Tacoma Rainiers (13-14) defeated Albuquerque (12-16), 8-3, in the series finale at Cheney Stadium. Albuquerque still took three of four games against the Rainiers, claiming their first series win at Tacoma since 2014.
The Rainiers held the Isotopes without a hit for the first four innings before Derrik Gibson connected on a triple in the top of the fifth. Jordan Patterson brought him home for Albuquerque's first run with a sacrifice fly. Gibson hit another triple in the ninth inning and now leads the Pacific Coast League with six triples this season.
Raimel Tapia and Elliot Soto also collected RBI singles in the contest. Outfielder Mike Tauchman went 1-for-4 at the plate and has now hit safely in 15 consecutive games with the Isotopes dating back to Aug. 27, 2017.
Starting pitcher Brett Oberholtzer lost his second straight game for Albuquerque. The southpaw allowed five runs, six hits and walked two batters in 3.1 innings on the hill.
The Isotopes are back in Albuquerque Friday night when they begin a four-game series against the El Paso Chihuahuas. Right-hander Yency Almonte (1-0, 7.11) will get the start for Albuquerque while El Paso will send Luis Perdomo (1-1, 4.50) to the bump. First pitch from Isotopes Park is slated for 6:35 p.m.?
