May 4, 2018 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Nashville Sounds News Release
NASHVILLE - The Nashville Sounds Baseball Club will welcome James Shaw Jr. and his family to First Tennessee Park for Saturday's 6:35 p.m. game against the Memphis Redbirds.
Prior to throwing out the game's ceremonial first pitch at 6:20 p.m., Shaw will be presented with a number four Sounds jersey in honor of the four victims killed during the Waffle House shooting in the early morning hours of April 22. Shaw's heroism saved numerous lives after disarming the shooter at the Antioch restaurant.
The Nashville Sounds Foundation will present Shaw with a check donation for his GoFundMe account in the middle of the fourth inning. Created for the families of the four victims, the GoFundMe account has raised over $220,000.
Shaw and his family will watch the game from a Club Suite at First Tennessee Park. Centerplate, the Sounds' food and beverage provider, will donate food and beverage items to Shaw and his family.
Media seeking to interview Shaw are welcome on the field at 6:00 p.m. and can remain on the field for his ceremonial first pitch. Media are asked to RSVP to Chad Seely (ChadS@nashvillesounds.com) if they plan on attending.
The 2018 season is the Sounds' 41st in franchise history and fourth as the Oakland Athletics' top affiliate. Single-game tickets are available now by calling (615) 690-4487 or by visiting www.nashvillesounds.com.
