Round Rock Express News Release

METAIRIE, Louisiana - For the third time in the last four games, the New Orleans Baby Cakes (12-15) notched a walkoff win over the Round Rock Express (10-18), this time by a final score of 1-0 after 10 innings of play in Thursday night's series finale at the Shrine on Airline.

Both teams' pitching staffs stole the spotlight, combining to throw 19.0 total innings without allowing an earned run. Round Rock starter LHP Brandon Mann issued just one hit and two walks in 3.1 innings while New Orleans starter RHP Zach Gallen scattered four hits over 7.0 strong innings.

Baby Cakes RHP Jumbo Diaz (2-2, 2.45) picked up the win after racking up a pair of strikeouts in the 10th inning. E-Train RHP R.J. Alvarez (0-1, 2.00) suffered the loss when New Orleans scored an unearned run in the bottom of the final frame.

Scoring chances were hard to come by in regulation. Round Rock threatened in the first inning as CF Scott Heineman and LF Willie Calhoun collected back-to-back singles to put runners on the corners. However, Gallen worked out of the jam.

The E-Train sent just two additional runners into scoring position the rest of the way. DH Andy Ibanez worked a walk in the fifth prior to a Nick Noonan single, but a Hanser Alberto double play ended the threat. 1B Tommy Joseph began the 10th inning at second base by virtue of Minor League Baseball's new extra-inning rules, but Diaz retired the side in order.

Rehabbing Miami Marlins SS J.T. Riddle began the bottom of the 10th inning at second base. RF Isaac Galloway stepped to the plate and laid down a picture-perfect bunt, allowing Riddle to race to third. Noonan then made an errant throw to first, leaving time for Riddle to sprint home with the game-winning run.

Round Rock returns home to Dell Diamond on Friday, May 4 to open a four-game series against the Iowa Cubs. Express LHP David Hurlbut (0-2, 6.55) is scheduled to face Cubs RHP Alec Mills (0-4, 5.66). First pitch on Cancer Awareness Night, presented by Texas Oncology, is set for 7:05 p.m.
