SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake Bees, dressed as Las Abejas de Salt Lake, prevailed over the Las Vegas 51s 9-5 Friday night at Smith's Ballpark.

After taking an early 1-0 lead, the 51s plated four runs in the third on a trio of doubles. Dustin Ackley, in his season debut, blasted a three-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to tie the game up at 4-4. Salt Lake broke the tie and took the lead in the next inning on an RBI single by Kaleb Cowart, which was followed by an RBI double by Jabari Blash. Rymer Liriano completed the scoring in the four-run inning for Salt Lake by blasting a deep home run to score himself and Blash. Las Vegas scored in the eighth, but so did Salt Lake to seal the win. Cowart, Jose Briceno and Eric Young Jr. each collected multiple hit nights and eight of the Bees nine batters crossed the plate at least once on the night.

Felix Pena got the start on the mound for the Bees, but did not factor into the decision lasting three and two-thirds innings and allowing four runs. Ralston Cash (2-1) followed Pena and picked up the win in relief striking out two batters over one and two-thirds scoreless innings. Greg Belton allowed a single run over two and one-third and Taylor Cole picked up the final four outs to collect his second save of the year.

As part of Minor League Baseball's Copa de Diversion initiative, the Bees wore Hispanic-themed uniforms with the "Las Abejas" identity. They will also wear the uniforms on Saturday and on June 10th and 11th. The Bees and the 51s will face off again Saturday at 6:35 at Smith's Ballpark.
