The Albuquerque Isotopes activated right-handed pitcher Blake Johnson from the disabled list today, August 14. Johnson was placed on the disabled list with a right elbow inflammation on July 4. In a corresponding move, right-handed reliever Steve Smith was sent to Double-A Chattanooga.

Johnson has made 16 starts this season for Albuquerque, posting a 6-5 record with a 4.18 ERA (39 ER/84.0 IP) and 70 strikeouts. The Baton Rouge native is in his second year with the Isotopes. Before going on the DL he led Albuquerque's pitching staff with the most starts, innings pitched and strikeouts this season.

Smith rejoined the Isotopes on July 27 and will be making his second stint with Chattanooga this year.
