Islanders Sign Justin Johnson to Two-Way Contract

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (March 3, 2014) - The New York Islanders announced today that forward Justin Johnson has been signed to a two-way (NHL/AHL) contract for the remainder of the 2013-14 season and has been assigned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (AHL).

Johnson, 32, has four points (one goal, three assists) and 156 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Sound Tigers this season. He signed an AHL contract prior to the start of the season, after spending the last three years with the Manchester Monarchs. The Anchorage, AK, native appeared in 190 career ECHL games from 2005-2010 with the Alaska Aces, Idaho Steelheads, Utah Grizzlies and Cincinnati Cyclones. He led the ECHL in penalty minutes in 2008-09 with 259. Prior to his professional career, Johnson played four seasons of college hockey at the University of Alaska-Anchorage.
