Irving Stops Dogs 1-0

Abbotsford Heat News Release
Abbotsford, B.C. - For the second night in three days the excellent play of Leland Irving helped lead the Abbotsford Heat to a 1-0 victory over their division rivals, the Hamilton Bulldogs.
After two periods of exciting back to back action the game would remain scoreless thanks to the solid goaltending efforts of both the Abbotsford Heat's Leland Irving and Hamilton Bulldogs Drew MacIntyre. The Heat managed to solve Hamilton goaltender Drew MacIntyre at 4:39 of the third period, as the Abbotsford took advantage of an early power play opportunity with Ales Kotalik blasting a shot through traffic that deflected in off the stick of Tyler Ruegsegger for his first AHL goal giving Abbotsford a 1-0 lead. Rookie Justin Dowling would start the play for the Heat and pick up the second assist. For Dowling, it was his third consecutive game with a point for the Heat.
Leland Irving kept the Bulldogs at bay for the remainder of the third collecting his second consecutive shutout en route to the victory over the visiting Hamilton squad. The two points gives Abbotsford a total of 84 on the season placing them just three points back of the Oklahoma City Barons for the crossover spot in the Western Conference.
The Abbotsford Heat will return to action tomorrow night Tuesday April 5th for their final home game of the regular season, as the Heat look to pick up another two big points versus the visiting Hamilton Bulldogs at the Abbotsford Entertainment and Sports Centre. Catch all the AHL action on Country 107.1 with Dave Sheldon getting the Diamond Bar Equipment pre game started at 6:30pm... Puck drops at 7:00pm.
