Bulldogs Shut Out By Heat

Abbotsford, BC - The Hamilton Bulldogs were defeated by the Abbotsford Heat 1-0 on Monday night. Tyler Ruegsegger scored the only goal of the game in the third period and Leland Irving made 23 saves for the shutout. The loss snaps a five-game winning streak and seven-game point streak that the ‘Dogs were on and keeps their magic number to clinch a playoff spot at one. If Hamilton earns a point in tomorrow's rematch, they will clinch a berth in the 2011 Calder Cup Playoffs.

Following two scoreless periods, the Heat got on the scoreboard at 4:29 of the final frame with a power-play goal. Justin Dowling sent a cross-ice pass to Ales Kotalik, who one-timed a shot. The puck deflected off the stick of Tyler Ruegsegger before beating Hamilton starting goaltender Drew MacIntyre over the right shoulder.

The Bulldogs will be looking to clinch a playoff spot in their rematch against the Heat tomorrow at 10:00 p.m. in Abbotsford. All regular season Hamilton Bulldogs broadcasts on AM 820 CHAM will begin with a pre-game show 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time.
