Oklahoma City Barons News Release
Oklahoma City - Oklahoma City Barons goaltender Jeff Deslauriers was named the Reebok American Hockey League Player of the Week for the week of March 28 - April 3, the league's front office announced today.
Deslauriers, a 6-4, 202-pounder from St. Jean-Richelieu, Quebec guided the Barons in back-to-back shutout wins over the weekend. He stopped all 33 shots he faced in the Barons 7-0 win over Rockford and then stopped all Texas shots in a 2-0 win over the Stars.
Those wins improved Deslauriers' record to 15-13-4 with a 2.93 goals against average and .904 saves percentage. He enters play this weekend riding a 126 minute 29 second shutout streak.
He is the third Barons player to earn Reebok AHL Player of the Week honors this season. He joins Linus Omark and Bryan Helmer as winners of the weekly award. In recognition of his achievement, Deslauriers will be presented with an etched crystal award.
The Barons are firmly entrenched in the playoff race in the West Division. With three games left in the regular season, the Barons have 87 points and can earn six additional standings points. They are currently in fifth place in the West Division, one point behind the Peoria Rivermen and one point ahead of the Chicago Wolves.
Oklahoma City finishes the regular season with three road games this weekend. Friday, they travel to San Antonio to take on the Rampage, AHL affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes at 7 p.m. Saturday, the Barons tangle with the Texas Stars, AHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars in Cedar Park, Texas at 7 p.m. The regular season concludes Sunday at 4:05 p.m. against the Houston Aeros, AHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild. All three games can be heard on the flagship station of the Barons, 96.1 KXY.
