Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
Syracuse, New York - The Lehigh Valley IronPigs (14-15) saw the Syracuse Mets (15-15) rally from two different deficits as they fell 10-9 in 11 innings on Friday night at NBT Bank Stadium.
The IronPigs jumped all over Syracuse starter Dylan Bundy in the second. Jordan Qsar blasted a two-run homer, his sixth of the season, and Vimael Machin followed with a solo homer, his fourth of the year, to make it 3-0.
Syracuse blasted back-to-back homers of their own in the last of the second as DJ Stewart and Jaylin Davis each hit solo homers to make it 5-2.
Weston Wilson drove in two runs with a double in the third while Jake Cave roped an RBI double in the fifth and Simon Muzziotti added another with an RBI triple in the frame to make it 7-2 Lehigh Valley.
Syracuse hit the comeback trail in the seventh. Ronny Mauricio hit a two-run triple and Danny Mendick popped a two-run homer to close the gap to 7-6.
With two outs in the ninth, Khalil Lee ripped an RBI double to tie the game at 7-7.
Both teams went scoreless in the tenth before the IronPigs broke the stalemate in the 11th. Wilson put the IronPigs ahead with an RBI double and Scott Kingery added another with an RBI single to make it 9-7.
Syracuse came back one final time in the bottom of the 11th. Jonathan Arrauz grabbed one back with an RBI single before Lee stung the IronPigs again with another game tying RBI double. After an intentional walk loaded the bases, Tim LoCastro reached on a catcher's interference to force home the winning run.
Dennis Santana (1-0) picked up the win for the Mets in relief. In one inning, Santana allowed two runs, one earned, on two hits and two walks, striking out one.
Hans Crouse (0-1) was hung with the loss for the IronPigs. Crouse went 1.1 innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and three walks, striking out two.
