September 15, 2023 - International League (IL)
Rochester Red Wings News Release

The Rochester Red Wings dropped their third consecutive game to Lehigh Valley Friday night by a score of 8-4. LF Jack Dunn picked up his second three-hit game as a Red Wing, while 2B Darren Baker picked up two hits of his own for his team-leading 32nd multi-hit game of the season.

Lehigh Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top half of the third when 2B Kody Clemens launched his second homer in as many games, a 411-foot shot that scored DH Drew Ellis and CF Cal Stevenson.

3B Erick Mejia drew a walk with one out in the fourth and promptly stole second base, his seventh of the season. DH Matt Adams, playing in his first game since being reinstated from the Injured List, drove him in with an RBI single in the following at-bat to cut the lead to 3-1. LF Jack Dunn followed with a single of his own, and C Brady Lindsly walked to load the bases.

SS Jeter Downs and 2B Darren Baker laced back-to-back RBI singles to score Adams and Dunn and tie the game at three, and CF Derek Hill walked to push in Lindsly to give them a 4-3 lead heading into the fifth. Seven consecutive batters reached base in the four-run inning.

Lehigh Valley wasted no time answering with a run of their own in the fifth. After the first two hitters were set down, Clemens launched his second homer of the night to tie the game at four. This marked his second multi-homer game against Rochester this season (3 on 8/10).

Drew Ellis singled with one out in the seventh, and advanced to second on a walk to Cal Stevenson. SS Weston Wilson made it back-to-back free passes with a walk of his own to load the bases. 1B Darick Hall singled in the following at-bat to score Ellis and Stevenson, giving the IronPigs a 6-4 lead. RF Dustin Peterson drove in another on a fielder's choice to make it a three run game heading into the seventh inning stretch.

1B Frankie Tostado accounted for the Wings lone hit over the last three frames with a one-out line drive single to center field in the bottom half of the ninth inning. Rochester went down in order after that to drop tonight's game 8-4 to Lehigh Valley.

RHP Roddery Muñoz made his ninth start of the season tonight, and turned in a season high 5.0 innings of work. The Dominican Republic native allowed four earned on four hits while logging six strikeouts, which is also a season high. LHP Tim Cate followed with 1.2 innings, allowing two earned on a hit while striking out a pair. RHP Luis Reyes, RHP Junior Fernandez, and LHP Lucas Knowles combined to cover the last 2.1 innings pitched, giving up two runs on four hits and two strikeouts.

Friday night's Diamond Pro Player of the Game goes to LF Jack Dunn. The Georgia native went 3-for-4 with a run scored in tonight's loss. Dunn has reached base safely in 10 straight games dating all the way back to 9/2, while recording six hits over the first four games of the series, hitting .429 (6-for-14).

Both teams are back in action Saturday night, for the Wings final home night game of the season. LHP Alemao Hernandez takes the mound in search of his fourth consecutive winning decision, against former Red Wing and current IronPig RHP Drew Hutchison. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
