
Iowa Energy Win 110-103 in Overtime against the Mad Ants

Fort Wayne, IN - The Iowa Energy (7-3) won 110-103 over the Fort Wayne Mad Ants (7-5) Saturday night at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.
The Energy were led by Joel Wright with a game-high 28 points and 11 rebounds. Memphis Grizzlies assignee James Ennis added 23 points and four rebounds and Alex Stepheson posted another double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. Joe Young had 27 points, two rebounds and three assists for the Mad Ants.
It was a slow start to the game for the Energy. They were able to keep it close for the first few minutes before the Mad Ants were able to pull away and open up a 15-point lead. Fort Wayne held a 35-20 advantage after the first quarter. Iowa came out with a hot start in the second to quickly erase the 15-point deficit and tie the game mid-way through the quarter. The Energy stayed hot for the rest of the quarter and outscored the Mad Ants 40-19 to hold a 60-54 halftime lead. Ennis had 15 first half points and Stepheson recorded a first half double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds.
Iowa began the second half with a couple quick baskets and was able to hold the lead for the first half of the third quarter. The Mad Ants were able to tie the game mid-way through the third and opened up a seven-point lead. The Energy came back and tied the game at the end of the third 78-78. It remained a close game down the stretch in the fourth. The teams were tied 100-100 with 20.5 seconds left. The Energy held for the last shot of the game but were unable to get the shot to fall. For the second night in a row, the Energy were headed to overtime. In overtime, the Energy hit 10 straight free-throws to seal the win 110-103.
The Energy are back in action on the road Tuesday morning at 10 a.m. in Delaware for the final game of a three game road trip. The Energy return home Friday, Dec. 18 for Hoops For Troops Military Appreciation Night, the first 1,000 fans receive an Energy military T-shirt.
