Westchester Knicks News Release
WHITE PLAINS - The Westchester Knicks (8-3), the official NBA Development League affiliate of the New York Knickerbockers, bested the Delaware 87ers (5-6) Saturday afternoon in a 118-95 win at the Westchester County Center.
Giving his hometown crowd a show to start the game, White Plains High School standout Sean Kilpatrick put up a quick seven points in the first two minutes for Delaware. The Knicks came back just as quickly, taking advantage of the 87ers' 9-for-24 shooting and snatching the lead just over three minutes into the first. Westchester never looked back, holding onto the lead for the remainder of the game.
A 16-0 run in the second quarter gave Westchester as much as a 20-point lead over Delaware, who continued to struggle to find shots. The Knicks' 36 points in the second coupled with 15 assists in the first half gave Westchester a comfortable 63-45 lead heading into the second half.
Sean Kilpatrick heated up again in the third for another eight points but his teammates left him hanging as the 87ers shot just 26 percent from the field. The red-hot Knicks racked up a 34-point lead with a stellar 13-point quarter from Jimmer Fredette and headed into the final quarter with a 97-64 advantage.
A big quarter off the pine from Christian Wood with 13 points gave the 87ers a glimmer of hope at times in the fourth, but the Knicks' lead was too much for Delaware to recover from. Westchester never trailed by fewer than 25 points until the final play, a pair of free throws from Wood, for a final score of 118-95, a 23-point benefit for the Knicks.
It was a true team effort for Westchester, paced by Jimmer Fredette with 21 points, seven rebounds, and five assists. Jordan Bachynski had a monster game, finishing with 15 points and 15 rebounds for the double-double, topping it off with three blocks. Off the bench for a change, Sean Marshall racked up 19 points with five rebounds and two steals while Jordon Crawford supplied 18 points, four rebounds, and three assists from the wood. The Knicks finished with a total of 28 assists in the win.
Christian Wood finished with a game-high 22 points for Westchester, also grabbing eight boards. Sean Kilpatrick finished with 21 points and two rebounds in his homecoming, while Gani Lawal just reached a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Westchester Knicks travel to Mississauga, Ontario to face the newest NBA Development franchise, Raptors 905, for a 6:00 p.m. match-up tomorrow, Dec. 13, 2015. The game will be broadcast live on MSG2 and YouTube.
