Huge Third Quarter Lifts Drive Past Charge

The Canton Charge (3-7), presented by SecureData 365 and powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, fell on the road to the Grand Rapids Drive (5-6), 111-96, on Saturday night. Grand Rapids put on an offensive display in the game, hitting 61% of their shots and moving the ball for 25 assists on 43 field goals.

With the Charge down 52-48 to start the second half, the game's difference came in the third quarter via an offensive barrage by the Drive. The hosts hit 14-of-19 from the field (74%) as a unit, including 11 assists and 16 points from Devin Ebanks alone. Their effort spread to the defensive end of the floor where they limited Canton to just 6-of-18 shooting (33%) and forced six Wine & Gold turnovers resulting in 10 points. The 38-18 scoring margin in the quarter gave Grand Rapids a 90-66 advantage that they wouldn't relinquish.

Quinn Cook led Canton with 17 points and four assists in 32 minutes. Nick Minnerath provided 15 points, seven boards, and three steals in 35 minutes off the bench. D.J. Stephens added 15 points and two blocks in 34 minutes. Joe Harris netted 12 points with four boards and a steal in 30 minutes on assignment from Cleveland. Canton showed their resolve throughout the night with a continuous fight on defense, forcing 21 turnovers that resulted in 36 points.

Ebanks finished with a game-high 25 points on 5-of-9 from three-point range to go along with three steals in 30 minutes. Lorenzo Brown posted a double-double of 10 points and 12 assists, with nine rebounds and three steals in 32 minutes. Xavier Ford and Kammeon Holsey each added 15 points in relief off the bench for the Drive.

Canton will hit the west coast for a two-game swing, starting with a visit to the Santa Cruz Warriors (Golden State Warriors affiliate) on Tuesday, December 17th at 10:00 p.m. The Charge return home on Saturday, December 19th at 7:00 p.m. to host the Erie BayHawks (Orlando Magic affiliate) for Cavs Night presented by GE Lighting!
