
Williams Leads Warriors Past the Blue in Overtime Victory

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. - The NBA D-League Champion Santa Cruz Warriors (7-4) defeated the Oklahoma City Blue (1-10) 93-87 Saturday night at the Cox Convention Center.
Santa Cruz's Elliot Williams notched 32 points, 6 rebounds, and 4 assists, making this the sixth time this season that he has recorded 30+ points in a game. Verdell Jones III was the only other player for the Warriors who scored in double-figures, finishing with 13 points.
Josh Huestis, on assignment from the Thunder, paced the Blue with a team-high of 18 points and 6 rebounds, while JP Tokoto added 14 points.
The game would be tight early on, with 8 lead changes and 6 ties in the first quarter alone. Heading into the second frame, Santa Cruz would hold a 28-25 lead over Oklahoma City.
The Blue would start the second quarter on an 18-0 run, taking a 43-28 advantage with 5:30 left in the first half. The Warriors would round out the half on a 14-8 run to enter the break trailing by 9.
Santa Cruz went on an 8-0 run out of the lockeroom to tie the game at 51, with 9:36 left in the third quarter. Both teams would remain locked in a tight battle for the remainder of the quarter, with the Warriors entering the fourth quarter leading 73-69. Santa Cruz would increase its lead by as many as 7 points in the final frame, with the Blue slowly chipping away at their deficit, to find themselves down by 3 points in the final minute of the game. With 40.6 seconds left in regulation, Oklahoma City's Josh Huestis would hit the 3-pointer that would tie both teams at 87 and send the game into overtime.
Overtime would see the Warriors play stellar defense and shut out the Oklahoma City Blue's offense. Chris Udofia and Elliot Williams would combine to score 6 total points, giving Santa Cruz the 93-87 win.
