Intimidators Hosting F&M Bank High School Baseball Classic this Week

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (April 25, 2011) - The Kannapolis Intimidators, Class- A Affiliate of the Chicago White Sox, are hosting the F&M Bank High School Baseball Classic this week, Wednesday through Friday, at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium. The tournament features some of the top Division 3A baseball teams in North Carolina, including the East Rowan Mustangs and the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans, who are each in first place in their respective conferences.

The tournament field also includes Kannapolis' own A.L. Brown High School along with Mount Pleasant and Robinson representing Cabarrus County against Rowan County schools West Rowan, South Rowan and Carson. Teams will play inter-county match ups for county bragging rights in the first year of this new tournament format. The winning county will be awarded the first annual F&M Bank High School Baseball Classic Cup at the conclusion of the tournament. The tournament's All- Classic Team will also be announced at that time.

Perennial power East Rowan is currently 15-5 (11-1 in conference) on the season while Northwest Cabarrus is also 15-5 (12-2). The two teams play at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 29 in what should be one of the best match ups of the week.

Play will start at 10 a.m. each day of the tournament with games at 10 a.m., 1 p.m. 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. for three straight days showcasing some of the best high school baseball in the area.

Tickets for the tournament are only $5 for adults, $4 for students and seniors (55+). Fans can also purchase a Tournament Pass for only $12 for adults and $10 for students and seniors. Tickets are available at Fieldcrest Cannon Stadium or by calling (704) 932-3267.
