HICKORY, NC - The Hickory Crawdads fell to the Augusta GreenJackets, 9-3, before 1,111 fans at L.P. Frans Stadium on Monday.

After both starters dealt two scoreless frames to start the game, the GreenJackets (6-12) plated a pair of two-out runs in the top of the third against RHP Nick Tepesch (L, 0-2). 2B Carlos Willoughby singled and LF Raynor Campbell doubled to keep the inning going, before 3B Adam Duvall drove both in with a base hit to make it 2-0.

Augusta struck again in the fifth inning to stretch it to 3-0. CF Chris Lofton led off with a double, moved to third on a fly ball to center and scored on an RBI ground out by Campbell, adding another tally to the lead.

The Crawdads (12-6) got on the board and chipped away with a run in the bottom of the fifth against RHP Justin Schumer (W, 2-1). LF Jhonny Gomez got himself on with a one-out single and advanced quickly to second on a walk drawn by C Kellin Deglan. Both runners then moved up on a wild pitch, before CF Jake Skole came through with an RBI single to right field, scoring Gomez. Deglan also tried to score on the play, but was thrown out at the plate by RF Ryan Scoma, leaving Augusta up, 3-1, through five.

The GreenJackets got back to it in the top of the sixth, increasing the lead with a two-run homer by DH Devin Harris, making it 5-1. However, Hickory again came right back to keep it close with two runs in the bottom of the frame. With two outs, RF Josh Richmond and 2B Odubel Herrera singled to extend the inning, and both scored on a two-run double by 3B Christian Villanueva, cutting it to 5-3.

Augusta, though, went on to score four unanswered runs the rest of the way. Harris drove in three of the four with an RBI double in the seventh and and another two-run homer in the ninth, pacing the GreenJackets 9-3 win.
