Tonight: The Gnats, SAL affiliate of the New York Mets, begin a five-game series in Delmarva and a nine-game road trip to Delmarva and Lakewood. The Gnats hit the road after a 5-4 home stand. Savannah's next home game is Thursday, May 5th.

Last Game: The Lexington Legends broke a 7-7 tie when Delino DeShields Jr. scored the go-ahead run in the top of the eighth inning Saturday night for an 8-7 Lexington win in the finale of the two teams' five-game series. Savannah led 4-0 in the game, but the Legends took a 6-5 lead with six runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Savannah 3B Aderlin Rodriguez clubbed his first home run of the year, a two-run shot in the third inning.

Now Pitching: RHP Ryan Fraser is scheduled to make his third Savannah start and his fourth appearance. Fraser is currently eighth in the SAL in ERA (2.08). In his last start, he held the Lexington Legends to two runs, one earned, on four hits in six innings. He struck out four and walked two. Fraser pitched exclusively out of the bullpen for short-season Brooklyn in 2010. With the Cyclones, he was 3-3 with a 1.44 ERA and 12 saves in 31.1 IP. He struck out 39, walked 20 and yielded just 16 hits. In ratio form, that's 4.6 H/9 IP, 5.7 BB/9 and 11.2 K/9. The Mets drafted Fraser in the 16 th round of the 2010 draft out of Memphis. The Rays originally drafted Fraser out of Walker Valley HS in the 49th round in 2006, but he chose to attend Gulf Coast Community College and then Memphis. Fraser excelled on the field and in the classroom as an amateur. On the field, he led the Tigers with 93 strikeouts and 92 IP in 2010 on his way to three C-USA Pitcher of the Week honors and a Second Team All C-USA selection. In the classroom, he was a member of the C-USA All-Academic Team in 2010 and ran a 4.0 grade point average in high school where he was a member of the National Honor Society. The Gnats are 0-2 when Fraser starts, in part because they have scored just one run in those two games.

Protected by the Shields: Robbie Shields rides a five-game hitting streak, his best of the season. During his streak, he's hitting .300 (6-for-20). He's reached base in 13 consecutive games. He leads the Gnats, and is tied for seventh in the League, with 11 walks drawn.

Pitching In: The Gnats pitching staff is fourth in the SAL with 141 strikeouts and has allowed the second fewest runs overall at 74 and the fourth-fewest home runs (10).

Sleeping Lumber: The Gnats are last in the 12-team SAL with 60 runs scored in 16 games, (3.75 r/g). As a whole the team is hitting .238/.314/.370 (AVG/OBP/SLG. The Gnats hitters have fanned just 108 times, tied for the second-fewest among all teams.

Vs. Delmarva: Tonight will be the first of four games between the Gnats and Shorebirds this year. Last year, the teams split four games in Delmarva. In 2010, outside of a 12-4 Gnats blowout win in game two, the other three games were all decided by one run and two went to extra-innings.

Cooler Honeck: Sam Honeck is still leading the SAL with eight doubles. Despite an 0-for-16 skid, he is seventh in the League with a .362 average (21 H/58 AB). Honeck received the day off on Saturday, his first of the 2011 season. Honeck played in just six games for the Gnats last year, hitting .091 (2 H/22 AB) with six walks for a .286 OBP in six games before breaking his leg in a collision at home plate in Delmarva in the top of the 12th inning on May 5th, 2010.
