Columbia Inferno News Release

THE WEEK THAT WAS:

Tuesday, Nov. 14th Florida 6 - Inferno 5 (SO)

The Inferno finished their three game road trip at Germain Arena, falling 6-5 in a shootout. Columbia received two goals apiece from Mac Faulkner and Luke Fulghum to take Florida to the extra period and earn a point. Florida goalie David Shantz stopped all four Columbia shooters in the shootout and turned aside 26 of 31 during the game to earn the Everblades' third win over the Inferno in as many games. Inferno goalie Rob Gherson stopped 30 of 35 during regulation.

Friday, Nov. 17th Gwinnett 3 - Inferno 2

The Inferno found their way back to the Capital City in front of 3,800 after having spent nearly a week in Florida, but found their homecoming ruined by the cross-state rival Gladiators. Columbia jumped out to a 1-0 lead on Chris St. Jacques' first goal of the season in the opening frame, but Gwinnett stormed back to score three straight goals. Mac Faulkner beat goalie Dave Caruso for his seventh of the year and close within one goal, but Caruso shut the door afterwards. Columbia's special teams woes continued, as they allowed a power play and short handed goal while going 0-for-11 on the man advantage. Inferno goalie Rob Gherson stopped 27 of 30 while Caruso turned aside 32 of 34.

Saturday, Nov. 18th Inferno 4 - S.C. 2

The Inferno headed east on I-26 and exercised some frustration on the Rays at the North Charleston Coliseum. Goalie Todd Ford played his first game for Columbia since being called up to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL nearly two weeks ago, as he stopped 37 of 39 shots. Mac Faulkner continued his hot play, tallying a hat trick for the second time in as many Inferno games that Ford has started (Drake, Nov. 7th 6-3 win vs. AUG).
