Phoenix RoadRunners News Release

PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Phoenix RoadRunners of the ECHL, a proud affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes and the San Antonio Rampage, have acquired forward Dan Baum from the Dayton Bombers. The trade completes the deal Saturday that sent center Yannick Tifu to Dayton in exchange for future considerations.

"This was a difficult trade to make because I have the utmost respect for Yannick as both a player and a person, but ultimately we were missing some grit and toughness up front and that's an element of the game that a natural power forward like Dan Baum brings to the table," said RoadRunners Head Coach Ron Filion. "I think in the end this is the type of trade that will help both teams, and I wish Yannick nothing but continued success this season. In the meantime, we're excited to bring Dan aboard and look forward to getting him into our line-up this weekend."

Baum, 23, has two goals, an assist, and eight penalty minutes in seven games with the Bombers this season. The Biggar, Saskatchewan native and fourth-year professional skated in just 24 games with the Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL in 2005-06, but finished fourth on the club with 121 penalty minutes to go along with a goal and five assists. Selected by the Edmonton Oilers in the seventh round at the 2001 NHL Entry Draft, Baum began his professional career in 2003-04 with the Oilers' AHL affiliate, the Toronto Roadrunners, and tallied four goals, six assists, and 154 penalty minutes in 37 games. This followed a successful final year of junior hockey with the Prince George Cougars of the Western Hockey League in which he tallied a career-high 32 goals, 73 points, and 218 penalty minutes. Baum has recorded 10 goals, 26 points, and 496 penalty minutes in 119 career games.

Individual game tickets for the 2006-07 regular season are currently on sale and can be purchased at the US Airways Center Box Office and at all Ticketmaster outlets including Ticketmaster.com.

The RoadRunners host the Long Beach Ice Dogs at 7:11 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25 at US Airways Center for the annual "Teddy Bear Toss". All teddy bears collected will be donated to the Head Start Program of Maricopa County just in time for the holiday season.
