Wildcatters Acquire Rights to ECHL Scoring Champ

Beaumont, TX (November 20, 2006) Texas Wildcatters Vice-President of Hockey Operations and Head Coach Malcolm Cameron has announced that the team has acquired the ECHL rights to Alex Leavitt in exchange for Gino Guyer. Leavitt who is currently playing with the Wildcatters' AHL affiliate in Houston won the ECHL scoring title in his rookie year last season with the Alaska Aces. He was the first rookie to accomplish the feat in the last 15 seasons.

Leavitt scored 26 goals and 65 assists for 91 points and helped the Alaska Aces win the Kelly Cup Championship in just his first year. He was selected to the All ECHL First-team and All-Rookie Team. During the Aces post-season run, Leavitt had a goal and 12 assists and Alaska went an amazing 9-0 when he scored at least one point.

The Texas Wildcatters are the ECHL affiliate for the AHL's Houston Aeros. The Wildcatters begin a three game on Thursday, December 7 vs. the Charlotte Checkers.
