Indians Right-Handed Pitcher Carlos Carrasco Begins Rehab Assignment with Akron Aeros Tonight

AKRON, OH - Cleveland Indians right-handed pitcher Carlos Carrasco will begin a Major League Rehab Assignment tonight with the Akron Aeros.

Carrasco will make the start for the Aeros in their game against the Trenton Thunder.

Carrasco is 1-1 with a 4.97 ERA in five starts with the Indians this season. At the Major League level prior to 2011, he was 2-6 with 5.51 ERA in 12 starts, all coming with the Tribe.

Carrasco made his Major League debut on September 1, 2009 against the Texas Rangers and has spent parts of the past two seasons and all of 2011 with Cleveland.

Carrasco is the fourth Indian to make a Major League Rehab Assignment with Double-A Akron. Outfielder Grady Sizemore, right-handed pitcher Joe Smith and infielder Jason Donald have all made rehab assignments this season with the Aeros.
