
Baysox Strike Late and Down 'Wolves 12-6

The SeaWolves dropped their second straight game in the series opener against the Bowie Baysox on Friday night at Jerry Uht Park by a score of 12-6. The loss drops the SeaWolves to a season-low four games under .500
The Baysox struck first in the top of the first inning against Erie starter Casey Crosby. Greg Miclat singled with one out and stole second. With two outs, Crosby hit Robbie Widlansky to put two on for Caleb Joseph. Joseph singled to left, scoring Miclat for a 1-0 lead. Pedro Florimon doubled home a pair for a 3-0 Bowie advantage.
The SeaWolves battled back in the second against Bowie starter Zach Clark. Rawley Bisop led off walk a walk and was doubled over to third by Audy Ciriaco. With one out, John Murrian walked to load the bases for Justin Henry. Henry slapped a single to center, plating Bishop and Ciriaco making it a 3-2 game. Shawn Roof singled home Murrian, tying the game at 3-3.
Bowie regained the lead in the fourth. Florimon walked with one out and Ronnie Welty blasted a two-run home run to left-center for a 5-3 Baysox advantage.
Erie took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Bishop lead off with a walk and was doubled over to third by Ciriaco Michael Bertram doubled home both baserunners, tying the game at 5-5. Henry followed with an RBI double, scoring Bertram for a 6-5 âWolves lead.
The lead held until the top of the seventh against reliever Cory Hamilton. Kyle Hudson walked, Xavier Avery singled and Miclat walked loading the bases for Brandon Waring. Waring sent a bouncer to the mound and on Hamilton's throw to the plate, an error by the catcher Murrian allowed Hudson to score, tying the game. With one out, a wild pitch brought home Avery for a 7-6 Bowie lead. With two outs, Welty doubled to left center off of Jared Gayhart, clearing the bases for a 10-6 Bowie edge. The Baysox plated two more runs, taking a 12-6 lead. Erie would get no closer.
Crosby took the no-decision, allowing five runs on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts in five innings of work.
The âWolves and Baysox continue their three-game series on Saturday night at Jerry Uht Park...6:35 First Pitch. Righty L.J. Gagnier (2-1, 3.33 ERA) takes the mound for Erie against RHP Wynn Pelzer (1-2, 1.44 ERA).
