Baysox Make Player Moves

BOWIE, Md. - The Bowie Baysox announce a series of roster moves effective yesterday. RHP Chorye Spoone was transferred to Bowie from class Triple-A Norfolk, 1B Joe Mahoney was placed on the Disabled List and RHP Tim Bascom was transferred to class Single-A Frederick. With the moves, the Baysox have 23 active players on their 24-man roster.

Spoone is 2-0 with a 3.75 ERA in five starts for the Tides this season. Over 24.0 innings with Norfolk, Spoone has walked 13 batters while striking out 10. Spoone was the Baysox Opening Day starter, and is 1-0 with a 9.00 ERA in one start for Bowie this season.

Mahoney has played in 10 games for the Baysox this season. The left-hander is batting .235 (8-34) with one home run and one RBI. He is eligible to come off the disabled list Thursday, May 12.

Bascom pitched in six games in Bowie this season, including two starts. He compiled a 2-1 record with a 5.40 ERA over 20.0 innings pitched. Bascom walked three batters while striking out 22.
