
IceCaps Sign Pair of Defencemen to ATOs

The St. John's IceCaps announced they have signed defencemen Aaron Harstad (HAR-stad) and Peter Stoykewych (STOY-kuh-which) to amateur tryout contracts.
Harstad, 22, played 127 games in his four-year collegiate career at Colorado College, notching 30 points (9G, 21A) and 106 penalty minutes. The 6'1, 200 pound rearguard from Stevens Point, WI was taken in the seventh round (187th overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft by the Winnipeg Jets.
Stoykewych, 22, suited up in 139 contests in four seasons, also with Colorado College, recording 34 points (6G, 28A) and 122 penalty minutes. The 6'3, 200 pound native of Winnipeg, MB was drafted 199th overall by the Atlanta Thrashers in the 2010 NHL Entry Draft.
The IceCaps begin a six-game road trip Friday in Worcester vs. the Sharks (9:00 p.m. NDT), followed by stops in Manchester on Saturday (8:30 p.m. NDT) and Providence on Sunday (4:35 p.m. NDT). Catch all the action with Brian Rogers at www.stjohnsicecaps.com, 930 AM and www.ahllive.com .
