
Pirates Fall 3-2 to Bears in OT

Portland, Me. - The Hershey Bears (39-18-5-2) bested the Portland Pirates (35-33-4-1) by a score of 3-2 in overtime at the Cross Insurance Arena on Friday night. The game was the first loss for the Pirates in eight games, but extended their point streak to nine games, the number of slates they've gone without a regulation loss.
The Bears took the first lead of the game in the opening period when Tim Kennedy scored, assisted by Mike Moore and Stanislav Galiev at 10:34. Alex Bolduc tied it up for Portland, assisted by Jordan Martinook at 15:09 in the period.
Hershey took their second lead of the game at 8:12 in the second period with a goal from Kris Newbury, assisted by Moore and Chris Brown. The Pirates weren't answer until the 13:00 minute mark in the third frame when Bolduc scored his second of the night, assisted by Martinook and Patrick McNeill.
Regulation time ended in a 2-2 tie and the game headed to overtime. A whistle right before the four-minute mark prevented the game to going to three-on-three before Hershey had a chance to score the game winner. Andre Burakovsky netted the clincher at 3:26, assisted by Moore.
Mike McKenna (24-14-3) manned the net for the Pirates, stopping 21 of 24 shots. Philipp Grubauer (25-14-4) was between the pipes for the Bears, blocking 25 of 27 shots.
The Bears and Pirates will face off again tomorrow night at the Cross Insurance Arena. Puck drop is slated for 7 p.m. BOGO-half-off tickets will be available for the tilt, call 207-PIRATES for more information. Rene Rancourt will also be on hand to sing the National Anthem and sign autographs.
