Binghamton Senators News Release

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. - The Binghamton Senators overcame a slow start to rally for a 4-3 win over the visiting Norfolk Admirals. The B-Sens lone lead of the night came on Shane Prince's second tally 12:19 into the final period to give the hosts the one-goal advantage and eventual win.

Nathan McIver opened the scoring 3:09 into the first period with his second goal of the season to give Norfolk the 1-0 lead. Michael Sgarbossa doubled the lead with less than four minutes to play in the frame off a feed from Max Friberg. The B-Sens power play unit managed to cut the Admirals' lead to 2-1 off Prince's first of the night with just 38 seconds remaining in the first period. Binghamton went to the first intermission trailing 2-1 despite outshooting Norfolk 15-8.

The Admirals regained their two-goal advantage 6:25 into the middle frame when Friberg sent a slap shot past Scott Greenham to make it 3-1. Binghamton responded just past the 12-minute mark of the period when Zack Smith, who was playing in his first game with the B-Sens since being assigned on a conditioning stint from Ottawa, scooped home a rebound in front of the Admirals' Jason LaBarbera and buried the puck for his first of the season. Cole Schneider notched his team-leading 23rd goal of the year with less than one minute to play in the period to send the teams to the final intermission tied 3-3.

Norfolk managed to outshoot Binghamton 14-10 over the final period, but Prince's second tally of the night proved the difference maker as Greenham stonewalled all of the Admirals scoring chances over the final 20 minutes of play.

Greenham finished with 28 saves to improve to 13-8-2 on the year while LaBarbera allowed four goals on 35 shots to drop to 8-13-6 for the season. Prince tallied two goals and an assist while Schneider notched a goal and two helpers to lead Binghamton offensively.

The B-Sens visit the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins tomorrow night for a 7:05p.m. faceoff before heading to Bridgeport on Sunday for a 3:00p.m. puck drop versus the Sound Tigers. Fans can listen live on US Country 96.9FM or AM680 or following the B-Sens on Twitter @BSens_Hockey for updates.
