HAMILTON, ONT. - St. John's IceCaps forward Jason Jaffray was in on all four of his teams goals to lead the IceCaps (12-14-5-1) to a 4-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs (13-11-5-0) on Friday evening at FirstOntario Centre.
St. John's defenceman Mike Cornell got the IceCaps on the board first with a point shot on the power play at 12:10 of the opening frame, assisted by defenceman Ralfs Freibergs and forward Jason Jaffray.
Hamilton forward T.J. Hensick responded eight minutes later with his eighth goal of the season, with assists from forwards Gabriel Dumont and Eric Tangradi.
With 18 seconds left in the first period, Bulldogs forward Maxime Macenauer scored his third goal of the season on a breakaway to give Hamilton a 2-1 lead heading into the dressing room. Forward Nick Sorkin drew the only assist.
Jaffray tied the game 2-2 midway through the second period, with assists from forward JC Lipon and Freibergs.
With just under two minutes to go in the middle frame, St. John's forward Carl Klingberg put his club ahead 3-2, assisted by Jaffray and forward John Albert.
Jaffray added an empty-net goal to put the IceCaps ahead 4-2. Defenceman Kris Fredheim had the only assist.
Dustin Tokarski made 28 stops on 31 shots for the Bulldogs in the loss, while Connor Hellebuyck made 17 saves on 19 shots for the IceCaps in the win.
Hamilton went 0-for-2 on the power play, while St. John's was 1-for-3 with a man advantage.

The Bulldogs will be back in action on Sunday, Dec. 21 when they'll host the Texas Stars at FirstOntario Centre at 3 p.m.
