
Blue Jackets Recall Center Alexander Wennberg and Defenseman Cody Goloubef

Springfield, Mass. - The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Brian Gibbons on Injured Reserve and recalled center Alexander Wennberg from the Springfield Falcons, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club has also recalled defenseman Cody Goloubef from his conditioning assignment in Springfield.
Gibbons, 26, suffered a knee injury in Thursday's 5-4 overtime loss to Washington and is expected to miss two to three weeks. He has collected five assists and six penalty minutes in 21 games in his first season with the Blue Jackets and has added five points (1g, 4a) in seven contests with Springfield. Signed as a free agent in July 2014, the Braintree, Massachusetts native has recorded 22 points (5g, 17a) and 12 penalty minutes in 62 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Goloubef, 24, recorded two penalty minutes in three games with the Blue Jackets before suffering a knee injury on Nov. 1 at New Jersey. He has an even plus/minus rating in three games with Springfield since being loaned to the Falcons on a conditioning assignment on Dec. 10. The Oakville, Ontario native was Columbus' second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft and has posted one goal with four penalty minutes in 20 career NHL games, while adding 70 points (18g, 52a) and 232 penalty minutes in 201 career AHL games.
Wennberg, 20, recorded his first NHL point (assist) in his NHL debut on Oct. 9 at Buffalo, and has notched three assists and eight penalty minutes in 21 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The Stockholm, Sweden native has also registered three assists and 12 penalty minutes in six games with Springfield. The club's first pick, 14th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, Wennberg posted 21 points (16g, 5a) and eight penalty minutes in 50 games with Frolunda of the Swedish Hockey League in 2013-14.
