Ice Pilots Score Four to Win in Overtime

North Charleston, SC The Pensacola Ice Pilots scored the games final four goals to knock off the South Carolina Stingrays 4-3 in overtime. Adam Courchaine's goal won it for the Ice Pilots, as the Stingrays dropped their ninth straight game beyond regulation.

The Rays are now 13-13-9 on the season, while Pensacola improved to 12-18-3.

The Stingrays jumped out to an early morning lead against the Ice Pilots with goals by Nick Harloff, Craig Olynick and Cam McCaffrey. Harloff and Olynick each scored from the blue line. Harloff netted his first of the season on a wrist shot at 3:31 and Olynick's slap shot went off an Ice Pilots defender at 5:58. At 8:24 the Stingrays would score again when Cam McCaffrey finished off a pretty pass from Ryan Finnerty for his seventh of the year.

The Ice Pilots cut the lead to two with a power play goal by Stephen Later at 8:30 in the second period.

In the third frame, Pensacola completed the come back with goals from Brendan Cook and Mark Rooneem. Rooneem scored to bring the Ice Pilots to within one when he backhanded a puck off of a Stingrays defenseman just under two minutes into the period at 1:51 and Cook scored on a power play after Later hit him with a pass at 12:28.

Courchaine deflected a Rooneem pass between the legs of Maxime Daigneault at 1:20 of overtime for the win.

The Stingrays will travel to Augusta on Friday night to complete a light week of action. The team will return home on Friday the 20th against Augusta and Saturday the 21st against the Columbia Inferno.
