January 10, 2006 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Bombers trailed 2-0 after one, and 4-0 nothing after two before eventually falling 5-1 to their Northern Divisional Rivals the Johnstown Chiefs.
Johnstown would score their first of three power play goals on the night by taking an early 1-0 lead at the 13:31 mark of the first period on a shot by Defenseman Gerard Dicaire. Less than seven minutes later they would then lead 2-0 on an even strength goal off the stick of J. B. Bittner. The Bombers had a number of great chances to cut the lead in half early on as they would start on the powerplay themselves to begin the second period, but could not get anything past starting Goaltender Morgan Cey. (Say)
Johnstown would take advantage of Cey's play and help him out with two quick goals to follow. First at the 2:43 mark of the second on a power play goal by Mike Egener, and just over two minutes later, on an even strength goal by Brandon Elliott at the 4:37 mark of the second as well.
Despite trailing 4-0 after the second, the Bombers came out with energy early on in the third, pelting rubber at Cey once again. The shutout was not to be for Morgan Cey thanks in part to Paul Kelly at the 4:41 mark in the third, his second goal in only four games with the Bombers (assists to A.J. MacLean (8) and Jay Latulippe (13). The Bombers outplayed Johnstown in that final period but somehow the Chiefs would add one more before it was over to make it 5-1.
Dayton would outshoot Johnstown 31-30, in taking the loss but would finish 0-4 on the power play. Tim Konsorada who returned to action tonight after being recalled from Syracuse had his team and seson high 5 game assists streak snapped in the process as well.
The Bombers will play the Chiefs in the fourth game between these two teams in five days tomorrow night in Johnstown at 7PM.
The Dayton Bombers, proud âAA' affiliate of the National Hockey League's Columbus Blue Jackets, are celebrating their 15th Anniversary this season. The Bombers return home to host the Johnstown Chiefs on Tuesday, January 10 at 7:00pm. For tickets and information, call the Bombers' office at 937-775-4747 or visit daytonbombers.com.
