Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - F Andrew Ianiero had three goals to pace the Bakersfield Condors to a 6-4 come from behind win over the Utah Grizzlies before 6,698 fans at Rabobank Arena on Friday night. The win further improves the Condors ECHL-best record of 13-3-1 in their last 17 games.
The Condors (27-28-7, 61pts) jumped out to a pair of one-goal leads in the first frame. LW Mark Derlago potted his 27th of the season on the power play at 8:01, only to be answered less than two minutes later by the Grizzlies. With the score tied 1-1, C Dave Bonk then lit the lamp, taking advantage of a Utah breakdown and a perfect feed to the side of the net by Derlago. The goal was Bonk's 24th of the campaign. Bakersfield held Utah (23-23-16, 62pts) to just four shots on goal in the period, and the two clubs combined for just 12 overall.
Just over four minutes into the middle frame, Bakersfield extended the lead. Ianiero netted his 17th of the season on a breakaway to put the Condors ahead, 3-1. Utah, however, answered almost immediately, and rattled off three straight to take the lead. C Peder Skinner, LW Dan McDonald and F Tom May all lit the lamp to make it 4-3 and chase Condors G Dave McKee from the pipes.
G Yutaka Fukufuji held down the fort in relief, while Ianiero led the comeback. His second of the game at 9:12 of the third period, on another breakaway, tied the game up at 4-4. That goal, incidentally, was the 100th of his Condors career. His third of the game, at 16:32 put Bakersfield back in front at 5-4. C Danny LaPointe added an insurance tally, with his 13th of the season just over a minute later to account for the final score. Fukufuji stopped all 10 shots he faced in relief to claim his 7th straight victory.
