Steelheads Fall In Las Vegas, 4-1

Las Vegas, NV- The Idaho Steelheads (36-19-4) fell to the Las Vegas Wranglers by a 4-1 score tonight in front of 5,797 fans at Orleans Arena.

The scoring was opened in the first period when Justin Taylor scored in his return to the Las Vegas lineup at 2:28, assisted by the Ferraro brothers, Peter and Chris. Sean Garrity scored his first professional goal for the Steelheads to make it 1-1 on the power play at 12:42, with Kris Sparre and Matt McKnight adding the assists. The game remained tied at 1-1 into the third period, when the Wranglers took control.

Mike Madill scored the eventual game-winner at 8:39 of the third period, with assists going to Dan Riedel and Adam Miller. Moments later, the Steelheads had 1:35 of five-on-three power play time, and despite quality chances from Dan Welch and Garett Bembridge at point-blank range, the Steelheads could not convert.

Adam Miller scored to make it 3-1 for Las Vegas at 14:02, and Peter Ferraro would add an empty-netter with eight seconds remaining to seal the deal for the Wranglers, ending the Steelheads' six-game point streak.

With the loss, Matt Climie falls to 22-11-1; he stopped 23 of 26 shots. Glenn Fisher stopped 25 of 26 in the win for Las Vegas, improving to 8-5-2.

The Steelheads and Wranglers are back in action Saturday night. The puck drops at 8:30 PM Mountain Time.
