December 12, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Albany River Rats News Release

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that goaltender Justin Peters has been returned to Albany by the Carolina Hurricanes, their National Hockey League affiliate.

Peters, 22, was recalled to Carolina for the first time in his career on December 2nd, after Hurricanes goaltender Cam Ward sustained a groin injury in a game against Anaheim. Drafted by the 'Canes in the second round (38th overall) of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft, Peters did not make an appearance during his first NHL recall, serving as the backup goaltender behind Michael Leighton for four games. The Blyth, Ontario native has played in 14 games for the River Rats this season, posting a 3-7-2 record with a 2.79 goals-against average, a 0.911 save percentage and one shutout.

Peters is not expected to start tonight's game, but should be in Albany's lineup as the River Rats complete a three-game road stretch on Friday, December 12th with a 7:30 pm face off against the Manchester Monarchs at Verizon Wireless Arena. Albany's next home game is set for Saturday, December 13th as they host the Binghamton Senators for a 7:00 pm face off at the Times Union Center.

River Rats flex ticket packages and individual game tickets are on sale now at the River Rats office and the Times Union Center Box Office. For more information please contact the Albany River Rats at (518) 487-2244 or online at www.albanyriverrats.com.
