NORFOLK, VA - Brandon Segal had a three-point game - including an assist on Blair Jones' game-winning tally in the third period - as the Norfolk Admirals (9-15-1-4) defeated the Bridgeport Sound Tigers (17-7-1-2) 3-2 on Friday night at Norfolk Scope Arena.

The Admirals struck first 5:04 into the first period with a goal just after a power play expired. Steve Downie, who arrived earlier in the afternoon after being reassigned by Tampa Bay, found a loose puck in the bottom of the left faceoff circle. He quickly passed to Brandon Segal at the top of the crease for a tap-in.

Norfolk's lead doubled with less than two minutes remaining in the opening period. Immediately after a faceoff, Grant Potulny took the puck behind the net from the right corner and emerged behind the opposite goalpost. He wrapped a backhand shot past Bridgeport goaltender Peter Mannino at 18:27.

However, the Sound Tigers clawed back to within a goal of Norfolk under thirty seconds later. Jeremy Colliton centered the puck from behind the net into the slot where Sean Bentivoglio sent a shot over the right shoulder of Norfolk netminder Mike McKenna at 18:51.

After a scoreless second period in which McKenna stopped all 18 shots thrown his way, Bridgeport knotted the score at two goals apiece just thirty seconds into the third period. Kurtis McLean sent a backhand shot from the left faceoff circle into the top of the net, blocker-side.

The Admirals responded six minutes later on the power play. From the left corner, Segal spotted Blair Jones at the left point. Jones sent a wrist shot high into the air that sailed past Mannino's right shoulder at 6:29. The goal stood up as the game-winner.

Mike McKenna (33 shots, 31 saves) earned the win. Peter Mannino (23 shots, 20 saves) was saddled with the loss.

Norfolk was 1-4 on the power play. Bridgeport was 0-5.
