Binghamton, NY - The Senators ousted the Pirates 2-1, despite Portland outshooting Binghamton 42-28. Matt Ellis had the lone goal of the night for the Pirates.

The Pirates again gave up the first goal of the game, as Greg Mauldin notched his second of the year on a shot that deflected twice before beating Pirates netminder Adam Dennis. Peter Regin and Denis Hamel picked up the assists on the play, and the Senators took a 1-0 lead. But under four minutes later the Pirates bounced back. Paul Baier sent a pass across to the left point for Mike Weber. The blueliner fired a point shot that was deflected by Matt Ellis and got past Senators goaltender Brian Elliott to tie the game. The score would remain unchanged through the first two periods, with Portland outshooting Binghamton 25-17.

Early in the Third Period the Senators regained the lead as Peter Regin raced down the right wing and dropped the puck off for Denis Hamel. The veteran cranked a slap shot and beat Adam Dennis. Greg Mauldin picked up an assist on the play as well. When the dust settled after the third period, the Pirates had sent 17 shots towards Brian Elliott in the final period, but he turned them all aside to help the Senators to a 2-1 lead.

Adam Dennis stopped 26 of 28 shots he faced, but took the loss to drop to 7-6-0 on the season. Brian Elliott was fantastic in net for the Senators, making 41 saves on 42 shots to pick up the win and improve to 11-6-1 on the year.
