Albany Devils News Release

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence Bruins held the Lowell Devils to just 20 shots and goaltender Tuukka Rask backstopped his squad to a 3-0 win on Friday night at the Dunkin' Donuts Center.

Though the top-ranked Bruins' power play unit received seven opportunities during the game, their only man-advantage goal would come during a 5-on-3 late in the first. With the Devils' defense scrambling for a loose puck in front, Martins Karsums tipped a pass to a wide-open Martin St. Pierre, who knocked in a one-timer from the far circle at 17:19 for a 1-0 lead.

Providence picked up another goal at 11:21 of the second period to lift Providence to a 2-0 edge. A turnover by the Devils in the Bruins' zone led to a 2-on-1 up ice, where Ned Lukacevic took the shot himself and blasted a slapper from the near dot past Jeff Frazee.

Mikko Lethonen put the contest out of reach with 5:12 left in regulation, as he sent a wrist shot from the hash marks under the cross bar to make the final score 3-0.

Frazee stopped 34 of 37 shots and suffered his first regulation loss of the season. The Devils' goalie was 6-1-2 in his previous nine starts, with his only loss coming in overtime.
