Hot Rods Fall to TinCaps 7-4 in Series Finale

BOWLING GREEN, KY - The Bowling Green Hot Rods fell to the Fort Wayne TinCaps by a 7-4 final score. The TinCaps came all the way back from 4-1 down to secure a series split with the Hot Rods in the final meeting between the two teams.

The TinCaps score first in the very first inning when CF Jeisson Rosario singled to lead things off in the top of the first inning, and was scored on a ground rule double off the bat of 2B Kelvin Melean.

The Hot Rods responded right away in the bottom of the first inning. 2B Vidal Brujan leadoff with a double, and then a two run home run from SS Taylor Walls put the Hot Rods up 2-1 over the TinCaps.

Bowling Green added two more runs in the second inning when C Alexander Alvarez tripled, and then scored on a single from RF Eleardo Cabrera and the Hot Rods were up 3-1. Cabrera scored on a double from Brujan and Bowling Green lead Fort Wayne 4-1 after two.

The TinCaps cut the deficit to one run in the top of the fifth inning when 3B Luis Almanzar and LF Jack Suwinski worked back to back walks to start the frame. Suwinski scored on a wild pitch, and Almanzar scored on an error.

The TinCaps tied the game in the seventh inning when Rosario doubled and scored on an error when Melean stole second and got caught in a rundown until a bad throw allowed him to steal the base, and allowed him to score.

The TinCaps took the lead in the ninth inning when C Juan Fernandez hit a three run home run into the right field bullpen to give Fort Wayne the 7-4 lead, and the win.

The Hot Rods head up to Lake County for a three game series next. First pitch will be at 6:05pm CST and starters for the series have yet to be announced.
