Dayton Dragons News Release

Dayton, Ohio - The Lansing Lugnuts held off a furious Dayton comeback bid to edge the Dragons 8-7 on Tuesday night. The game included a second inning rain delay of one hour, 26 minutes and was played before a crowd of 7,786 at Fifth Third Field.

Lansing built an 8-2 lead going to the bottom of the eighth inning before the Dragons exploded for a five-run frame. J.D. Williams and Andy Sugilio each had run-scoring singles in the inning before Hendrik Clementina blasted a three-run home run to make it 8-7. The homer by Clementina was his 14th of the season.

The Dragons got a lead-off single from Alejo Lopez in the bottom of the ninth, but they could not advance him past first base as the next three batters were retired and Lansing held on for the win, allowing them to take three-of-four in the series.

Lansing scored four runs in the top of the second inning to take an early 4-0 lead. The Dragons answered with two runs in the third, as Reds 2018 first round draft pick Jonathan India picked up his first Midwest League RBI with a two-out run-scoring single.

The Dragons finished the night with 11 hits. Lopez led the way with three and went 8 for 16 in the series to raise his batting average to .307. Clementina's homer was his only hit, but he went 7 for 15 in the series with two home runs and three doubles. Andy Sugilio had two hits after going 0 for 12 in the first three games of the series.

Dragons starting pitcher Wendolyn Bautista (4-6) took the loss. He worked five innings and gave up seven runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.
