
Hot Komets ride win streak to seven games

Fort Wayne, IN --- The Komets extended their win streak to 7 games after taking both games played last week. The hot Komets have won their last 3 games at home and are riding a 4-game road win streak.
Friday the Komets stopped the Hounds at Chicago 3-1 and returned to Fort Wayne to turn back the visiting Kalamazoo Wings 4-1 Saturday night.
This week the Komets will skate 4 games in 5 nights starting with a home tilt against the Port Huron Flags Wednesday night at 7:30. Port Huron is coming off a 5-1 loss at Quad City Saturday night and are 1-9-0 in their last 10 games played. Wednesday's game will be the third of 6 meetings this season with the Komets leading the series 2-0-0. Wednesday will also be another Komet "Season Ticket Exchange Night". Fans with unused season tickets to previously scheduled Komet home games can exchange them for tickets to this Wednesday night's game.
Friday the Komets remain home to host the Kalamazoo Wings at 8pm. The Wings are 2-5-1 in their last 8 games after losing in Fort Wayne last Saturday night 4-1. This Friday's game will be the 8th of 10 meetings as the Komets are 3-2-2 vs Kalamazoo this season after winning the last 2 meetings. The Wings skate at Chicago Wednesday before traveling to Fort Wayne Friday.
Saturday the Komets head for Bloomington, Illinois for an 8:05pm faceoff against the Prairie Thunder at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum. It will be the 7th of 10 meetings as the Komets lead the series 5-1-0 after winning the last 5 straight meetings. The Thunder will host Rockford Wednesday and Quad City Friday before welcoming the Komets Saturday.
Sunday the Komets travel to Michigan for a 4pm faceoff at Wings Stadium against Kalamazoo. The Komets are 0-2-1 in 3 previous meetings at Kalamazoo this season. Sunday's tilt will be the 4th of 5 at Wings Stadium this season.

A+ for Comcast Report Card Night.....thousands of Fort Wayne area students took advantage of a special offer to get free Komet tickets with their "A's" at last Saturday night's Komet home game. A sell-out crowd of 10,462 was on hand for the Komet's 4-1 win over Kalamazoo. Comcast added to the success of the night by making a donation of $7,500 to the Literacy Alliance in honor of the students and their "A's". The sell-out crowd boosted the Komet's per-game average home attendance for the season to 7,749. It's the highest per-game attendance average in the history of the Fort Wayne Komet's franchise after 22 home games and tops last season's average after 22 home games by 203 fans.
Leaders.....center J.C. Ruid continues to lead the Komets with 28 goals, 13 power play goals and 58 points (3rd overall in points in the UHL).....Guy Dupuis (D) leads with 37 assists and leads all UHL scorers with 26 power play assists.....David Hukalo (RW) tops the team with +13.....Kevin St. Pierre moved ahead of all UHL goalies with an overall goals-against average of 2.15 and .929 save percentage. St. Pierre also leads UHL goaltenders with 4 shutouts and 2367:23 minutes....Mario Larocque leads UHL defensemen with 10 power play goals.
Special K's.....the Komets haven't surrendered a power play goal in 4 straight games (23/23) and have a total of 26 straight successful penalty kills. The Komet's power play continues to top the UHL with a 21.8% conversion rate (69/316) and have the second-best penalty kill with 88.9% (271/305). The Komets top the UHL special teams at home with a 26.3% power play conversion (44/167) and have a home success rate of 91.0% on the penalty kill (142/156).
Streaking Komets.....Guy Dupuis (D) has a 7-game point streak (1g, 11a) and leads the UHL with a 7-game assist streak (11a).....J.C. Ruid (C) has a 7-game point streak (6g, 9a) and 3-game assist streak (4a).....David Hukalo (RW) has a 5-game point streak (2g, 4a).....Matt Syroczynski (LW) has a 3-game point streak (2g, 1a).....Bogdan Rudenko has a 3-game point streak (1g, 2a).....Kevin St. Pierre (G) is riding a 7-game winning streak. He is unbeaten in regulation 9 consecutive games and has started 7 straight games.

Goaltender of the Week: Kevin St. Pierre, 2gp, 120 minutes, 2ga, 1.00 gaa, 58/60, .967 spct., and is the UHL's top goaltender at the end of 17 weeks with an overall 2.15 goals-against average and .929 save percentage. St. Pierre is riding a 7-game win streak and is unbeaten in regulation 9 straight games. St. Pierre has not allowed a power play goal in the last 26 straight times short-handed.
