UHL announces weekly award winners

LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that Quad City Mallards forward Justin Chwedoruk has been named Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week and Fort Wayne Komets goaltender Kevin St. Pierre has been named Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 4th, 2007.

Chwedoruk completed the week with eight points (4g, 4a) and a plus-5 rating in two games played. On Friday, he tallied his first hat trick of the year and added an assist in a 9-3 win over Flint. He tallied four points (1g, 3a) in the 5-1 win vs. Port Huron on Saturday. The 22-year-old native of St. Albert, Alberta currently leads his club in scoring with 48 points (17g, 31a) in 41 games played this season.

Other players nominated for the Sher-Wood UHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington center Tyler Rennette, Chicago defenseman Rod Aldoff, Elmira right wing Frank Littlejohn, Flint forward Jordan Fox, Fort Wayne center J.C. Ruid, Kalamazoo forward Greg Detulleo, Muskegon left wing Ryan Barnes and Rockford center Preston Mizzi.

St. Pierre finished the week with a 2-0-0 record, a 1.00 goals against average (GAA) and a .967 save percentage (SPCT). He made 25 saves in the 3-1 win at Chicago on Friday. The following night he made 33 saves in the 4-1 win vs. Kalamazoo. The 31-year-old native of Sherbrooke, Quebec is unbeaten in regulation over his past nine starts (8-0-1). He currently leads all league goaltenders in minutes played (2367:23), GAA (2.15) and SPCT (.929). He also ranks second in wins (27). It is his third consecutive and sixth weekly honor this season.

Other goaltenders nominated for the Southern Sports Supply UHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Steffan Braunlich, Chicago's Marty Magers, Elmira's Dave Lemanowicz, Flint's Bryan Worosz, Kalamazoo's Ryan Nie, Muskegon's Clayton Pool, Port Huron's Noah Ruden, Quad City's Jason Tapp and Rockford's Frederic Cloutier.
