Chwedoruk Named UHL Player of the Week

Moline, IL-The United Hockey League announced today that Mallards forward Justin Chwedoruk is the league's player of the week for the period of January 29th through February 4th. Chwedoruk recorded eight points (four goals and four assists) in two Mallards victories this weekend.

On Friday night, Chwedoruk recorded his first hat trick as a Mallard in a 9-3 win over the Flint Generals at The MARK. Chwedoruk's first goal of the night, scored on the power play, stood up as the game-winning tally. The rookie forwarded added a pair of third period goals along with a third period helper on a Luke Stauffacher goal. Saturday night, Chwedoruk netted his 17th goal of the year while adding three assists.

Chwedoruk moved to the front of the Mallards scoring race following his break out weekend. The St. Albert, Alberta native leads the team in points (48) and assists (31) while ranking fourth on the squad in goals (17). He leads UHL rookies in both scoring and assists while ranking second in goals.

In December, Chwedoruk was named the UHL's Rookie of the Month after recording 19 points (seven goals and 12 assists) during the final month of 2006. He joins Luke Stauffacher and Don Parsons as Mallards that have been named UHL Player of the Week during the 2006-07 season.

The Mallards are on the road on Friday for a showdown with the Bloomington PrairieThunder. Game time is 7:05 p.m. with The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show airing at 6:40 p.m. On Saturday, the Mallards return home for a game vs. the Flint Generals.
