LAKE ST. LOUIS, MO--- The United Hockey League (UHL) announced Monday that John Odom has been hired as the Vice President of Media Relations.
"It is an extreme pleasure to have John Odom join our staff here in the UHL league office. John brings with him an abundance of experience and knowledge to the position of VP of Media Relations for the UHL. We look forward to seeing what John will bring to this position and wish him the very best with his tenure with the UHL," stated Richard Brosal, UHL President/CEO.
Odom, 27, joins the UHL staff after serving as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Gettysburg College during the past two academic years. He was responsible for media relations, statistics and website maintenance for the College's 24-sport varsity athletic program. Prior to joining Gettysburg College, Odom managed the marketing, advertising and corporate giving for the New York State Historical Association and The Farmers' Museum in Cooperstown, New York. In addition, he served as a volunteer at the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum's Research Library.
A Columbus, Ohio, native and 2002 graduate of Haverford College with a degree in economics, Odom played varsity baseball and was the Black Squirrels' starting catcher for three seasons.
Odom will begin his new duties on February 5. He will be responsible for all communications and serve as the liaison between the league and media outlets. He will also maintain the UHL website and serve as the league administrator for hockey statistics. Odom replaces Brian Werger who left the UHL staff to take the position of Assistant Director of Media Relations for the Pittsburgh Penguins organization in the National Hockey League.
